OutKast? Acoustic?

No words can explain it. I'm just completely obsessed with this clever cover of OutKast's "Hey Ya".

(500) Days of Great Music

Last week I had a chance to catch the movie, (500) Days of Summer, and while I fell in love with the storyline and quirky characters, it quickly became all about the music for me. This is a funny film about how love can truly break your heart, but how you should always look towards the light at the end of the tunnel. A little positive thinking never hurt anyone.

Check out the following gems from this must-see movie...

Regina Spektor - "Us" / "Hero"
Mumm-ra - "She's Got You High"
Wolfmother - "Vagabond"
The Black Lips - "Bad Kids"

Also, be sure to check out the fantastic cover by She & Him of The Smiths' song "Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want". Amazing!

Love this!

Drew Reynolds is an amazing photographer that has shot everyone from Bloc Party to The Kills...and just happens to currently be a client of mine. Drew's blog is chock full of great bands and interesting photography (my favorite combo!). Check out his work!

Ray is the Man

How can a man whose voice is so sad put such a big smile on my face? Ray LaMontagne is one of those artists that I can listen to at any given time, but it always seems to be the right time. His lyrics strike a certain chord with me and they're also super sweet which just melts my heart...of course. His next Chicago show is supposedly taking place on November 12 at the Auditorium Theater. I'm in...who's with me?

"We're gonna fuel the fire, gonna stoke it up
We're gonna sip this wine and pass the cup
Who needs avenues, who needs reservoirs
Gonna show this town how to kiss these stars"

And to think I was only one small mile from Grant Park tonight...

Back to Dave

I'll be honest. It's been a long while since I've sat down and listened to Dave Matthews, but I came across some of my older CDs and decided to load them onto my iTunes for a quick trip down memory lane. I grew up with the Dave Matthews Band and of course was obnoxious in my youth by traveling to at least 10 of their shows, but for some reason his solo album, Some Devil, holds a special place in my heart. I dare you to listen to "Stay or Leave" and try not to find it's music and lyrics simply beautiful.
